World Earth Day information and history
World Earth Earth Day is celebrated every year on 22 April as an annual event by people all over the world to show environmental safeguards as well as to raise awareness among the people about environmental protection. For the first time, it was celebrated in 1970 and since then it has started celebrating this day annually on a global basis by around 192 countries.
The celebration of World Earth Day as an annual event was started to seek national support for better attention to environmental safety by solving its issue. In 1969, a peace activist named John McConnell of San Francisco who was actively involved in starting the event proposed to celebrate this day together for environmental protection. The event was chosen by John McConnell on 21 March 1970 to commemorate the spring equinox, while on 22 April 1970, the United States Senator Gaylord Nelson was selected to celebrate the event.
In order to resolve their environmental issues for a better future, they approached people to join this program together. During the first ceremony of World Earth Day, lakhs of people expressed their wishes and participated to understand the goal of this program. Instead of setting a date for World Earth Day, it started celebrating both days. In general, celebrating the Earth Day program began with the common task of planting new saplings in important areas across the globe.
On April 22, Wisconsin Senator Gaylord Nelson of America was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom Award for his participation in the good work of establishing the date for the Earth Day celebration. It was later focused on 22 April as World Day globally by Dennis Hays (the de facto national convenor) in the year 1990 among about 141 nations. Most of the Earth Day community celebrated this for the whole week, called Prithvi Week, to focus on many environmental issues. In this manner, 22 April 1970 was marked as the anniversary of the modern environmental movement.
Besides placing environmental issues before the people, controlling anti-war movement, Earth Day 1970 was established to increase awareness of people for other animals, self-realization. A major tragedy behind the founding of the Earth Day celebration program by founder Gaylord Nelson (a U.S. senator from Wisconsin) in St. Barbara, California, in 1969 was the tragedy of the massive oil spill. The tragedy inspired Gaylord Nelson to lead environmental protection measures, along with raising public consciousness for air, water and soil pollution.
Why is 22 April celebrated as Earth Day?
Our Earth is the only planet where life is possible even today. To preserve life on earth, it is very important to maintain the natural wealth of the earth. In this crowd, humans are the most intelligent work created by God, forgetting to take care of their humanity and their planet. The earth that gave life to it, today it is mercilessly using the resources of the same earth. April 22 has been marked as Earth Day to make the human race aware of the importance of their planet.
This day was laid by USA Senator Gaylord Nelson from Wisconsin to make people aware of the day-to-day rate of industrialization along with the careless attitude of the people on the earth. This step by him honours promotes the wealth of his planet and promotes it among the people.

By keeping a few things in mind, he chose this day that there would be no disturbance of the examination for the students or there would be no fair or festival for the common people, so everyone can give their full attention to this festival.
