CoronaVirus [Is Corona virus (COVID-19) a bio weapon of China provoking a bio war?]
In view of the growing worldwide outbreak of Corona virus, many kinds of questions are being raised on China. Meanwhile, India has insisted on Friday that a global treaty banning the making of destructive biological weapons should be strictly followed. In the global scenario, this stance of India matters a lot. Because on Thursday, at the summit of G20 countries in Saudi Arabia, it was agreed to bring an action plan on measures to tackle the global epidemic.
However, India said this on the occasion of the 45th anniversary of the implementation of the Biological and Lethal Weapons Treaty (BTWC) on Friday. India has also cited the fast spreading corona virus and its global impact, calling for a ban on biological weapons.
Along with this, India has also underlined the need to effectively deal with the challenges posed by new scientific developments in the region. Indeed, India's Foreign Ministry said in a statement without elaborating that the impact of the corona virus epidemic required international cooperation, including the institutional strengthening of the World Health Organization.
This statement also said that India is working closely with other member countries involved in the treaty to gather data to play an effective role in dealing with bio-threats and bio-emergencies.
The Ministry of External Affairs has also said that India believes that BWC should respond effectively to the challenges arising from new and emerging scientific and technological developments.
The statement said that India has submitted to the United Nations General Assembly an annual proposal on the role of science and technology in the context of international security and disarmament, which has been adopted unanimously.
The global economic and social impact of the pandemic caused by the corona virus underscores the need for international cooperation, including the institutional strengthening of the WHO.
